Letterpunch is my blog where I try and teach about type design
at both the typeface and the glyph level. As far as I know, there is no
freely available comprehensive resource on how to design individual
glyphs, only some general design tips, so I made Letterpunch to provide
this sort of information.
I try and teach through
example, analyzing about a dozen commercial and free fonts and pointing
out the minute nuances that separate mediocre type from high quality,
professional type. As I go along, I’m also creating a completely
original text serif (Floribunda) which will be released as an open source font.
